Hi. It’s me Ken

Your friendly neighborhood watercolor documentarian

“The Norman Rockwell of Maplewood” - Ellen Donker, editor of Matters Magazine

I paint portraits.

Pet portraits, people portraits, pop up portraits, building portraits, illustrations of local small businesses.

You may catch me making sketchbook paintings of cafés, coffeeshops, restaurants, flower shops, and so on and so forth. Is your favorite local shop available as a print or in About Town SOMA? If not, let me know where that spot is and I’ll meet you there! We can capture it together :)

I keep myself busy. I don’t just make art. I put a lot of time & effort into building community. Here are two ways I do that.

  1. The Art Generators (formerly known as Soma Affordable Arts) - we began in 2025 by organizing art markets to better serve the artists, and have been incredibly successful in that. In 2026, we are growing into monthly workshops. Join our Mailing List to stay in the loop.

  2. Soma Figure Drawing - twice a month since 2022. Regardless of your skill level or preferred medium, you are very much welcome at Soma Figure Drawing. The practice of drawing is fundamental to developing your skills. And the community surrounding it is deeply supportive. Sign up in advance or drop in!

Capture the spirit of your loved one—furry or otherwise—with a one-of-a-kind, hand-painted portrait.

Before we begin we’ll go over the look, feel, details, and timing to make sure everything is just right. Use the form here to give me as many details as you’d like to start with.

Portraits start at $400, depending on size and number of subjects with a 50% deposit.

Each painting is between 9"x12" and 11"x14", sized to fit beautifully in standard 11"x14" or 16"x20" frames. (Please note: framing is not included.)
